    Hello Gromit,

Please could you advise as I am getting confused.
For the NOPAT calculation, some notes (and acca past papers) are adding back dep’n and deducting economic dep’n, other notes are saying if dep’n and economic dep’n are the same no adjustment is required, however in June 14 question 1 the dep’n was not added back in ACCAs standard answer???

The only thing I can assume is that on June 14 where the question asks “calculate EVA justifying any assumptions you make” – were they wanting candidates to say “I have assumed dep’n is the same as Economic dep’n and not made an adjustment” ?

Was this part of the test of candidates knowledge?

    Many Thanks

If the economic depreciation you cannot make the adjustment and have to assume book and economic depreciation are the same.

They probably wanted you to say that was an assumption you made as it shows you know that an adjustment is needed.
