Not so common, but do remember that only 50% of the exam involves calculations. The other 50% is discursive.
I have often found the topics I have hoped and thought would not turn up in exam have a disturbing tendency to turn up in the exam. On the other hand, frustratingly, topics I have spent some significant time studying are often untouched by exam. This is unfortunately just a part of life. My personal advice would be to have an understanding of all relevant topics to a reasonable extent. Hope this helps.
