I’m planning to do F4 in Dec. However, I can’t decide which variant I should go for, Irish, English or Global (live in Ireland at the moment). What are the differences between the three?

Since I’m planning to do the exam either by myself or distance learning, would the materials from OT be sufficient for me to get good marks in the exams? Do I need to look for other materials as well?

One last question, if I want to do more than 1 exam in Dec, which other paper you would suggest me to go with F4? I’ve completed F1, 2, 3, & 9.

    Thanks

    Hi Regina

I can’t say much about the Irish variant. I suggest you download a couple of recent exams for the three different variants and see for yourself what the differences are.

However, I can help you a little with the difference between Global and English. (Again, a downloaded comparison will confirm what I am about to write!)

Approximately 60% of the two exams is identical. The differences are that in Global (as the name suggests) there is a substantial element of the process of arbitration and also of the international sale of goods rules and dispute resolution neither of which is included in the English variant syllabus.

The English element not included in the Global syllabus is heavily related to English contract law but also there is the topic of employment law which is not part of Global syllabus.

The opentuition recorded lectures are aimed at the English variant but, as stated above, they are about 60% relevant for Global candidates

As for which other exam to attempt with F4, Admin did an exercise to see which combination of various exams was preferred by students and, from memory, F5 seems to fit most easily with F4

    Hope all that helps

Thank you for your answer, Mike.

Just one question, would the materials from opentuition be sufficient for me to get good marks in the exams? Or should I look for other materials as well? If it’s the latter, any suggestions?

I don’t know about “a good mark” and certainly you will need to use a reputable publisher’s revision kit (don’t ask me to recommend one) but the material on site together with extensive use of the revision kit should see you comfortably through.

It is a good idea to have a study text available because, as unlikely as it may sound, you will almost certainly get a liking for the subject and a study text will enable you to read in greater depth about the topics which you find interesting

And good luck. Keep posting any other questions you may have, and recommend the site to all your fellow students!

    🙂
