Why might an employer prefer someone to work on a self-employed basis rather than as an employee?
a. Because a self employed worker does not have access to employment rights
b. Because an employer is not contractually bound to a self-employed worker
c. Because an employer has greater control over the work of the self-employed worker
According to me answer should be option a. But my mock says correct option is option c. How could this be option C. Employer has greater control over the employee and not over the contractor. Am I right./
This is a bit of a teaser. Certainly an employer would be happy to have a worker that has no employment rights.
But to have the power to ’employ’ someone as and when you want is surely attractive.
Hire this week when you need him, but not next week when you don’t.
In fact, thinking more deeply about this, the fact that you can ’employ’ as and when you want and the worker has no employment rights to prevent that ….. covers option A but option C is so much more than employment rights.
OK?
Oh yeah! I did not think this way! I now got it. Thankyou!
You’re very welcome 🙂
