I came across this term named Empire Building in the revision kit in terms of functional structure
I don’t quite understand what this meant sir that empire building is a disadvantage for a fundtional structureIt means that the head of a functional department might try to increase its size beyond what’s really needed. The bigger the department the more important the manager feels and can also perhaps demand a larger salary. The department had become the manager’s empire and the manager its emperor.
