Have you watched my free lectures on this?
It is the earnings available for shareholders divided by the number of shares, so I am not sure what it is you do not understand. I assume of course that you are studying only for Paper FA – there are more complications in later financial accounting papers, but not in Paper FA.
The lectures are a complete free course for Paper FA and cover everything needed to be able to pass the exam well.
