I know word count is 7000-7500 for RR and 1800-2000 for SLS. In the MS Word, the spaces too are counted as words! How do I deal with ? I have written around 5000 words as of yet and was considering it almost finished when I realised this includes spaces so in fact I have written approx 2500 actual words.

Are you sure your word count is including spaces? I’ve just double checked and my MS Word doesn’t include spaces in the word count.

I have just done a test and there is no way that in the normal operating mode that MS Word counts spaces as words.

The above sentence came back correctly as 24 words – if what you were saying @yusuf4fl
were true, it would have returned it as 47!

It may simply be a case of checking your settings as that is probably what is returning a false count.

    Dear madam,
How to count the no of words including charts and graphs? My ms word is showing only the words in paragraphs. Do we have to consider the words in charts and graphs?

    Thanks in advance!

You have to make an allowance for words in diagrams, charts, graphs and tables if these are not being picked up by the word count. So most reports depending on how many of these there are should not have an electronic Word count more than about 7,350 -7,400.
