does it matter which institution one studies in for ACCA. I am planning to join London School of Business and Finance for ACCA. do the Big 4s like deloitte, kpmg etc prefer ACCA students from reputable institutions as opposed to students who study ACCA through online programs or self study.

i feel employers would prefer an ACCA student from LSBF over a self study ACCA student.
    please guide me seniors!

In my opinion where I studied ACCA or how would not go on my CV in the first place… just have modules passed etc.

    Dear Emaan

I am afraid I do not find any logic behind your conclusion. What matters is whether you are qualified as ACCA, if you acquire it by self study or through tuition classes do not hold much of merit for a serious discussion.

According to me your thought process is simply trying to gain some confirmation of your own decision, which is non-existent as your subconscious mind already knew.

I want to believe that employers must give more weight to one who complete ACCA by self study rather than through tuition classes. Because the effort put in by a self study student will be more than the student who depends on coaching classes. I have completed all my F level papers without any tuition other than open tuition, where I am not even aggressively active though. I am planning for P level papers also without coaching. But I do not want to assess that what carries more weight, simply because it does not make any sense.

    Dear Sathjyot,

Please remember to be kind on the forums. That was a particularly mean response to the question.

In response to Emaan, the institution is not a factor when it comes to ACCA. The only determining factor is whether or not you pass examinations. ACCA has always stated that all members are equal and by extension all students are equal as well. Your grades don’t even matter either, because within a short order your numeric grades are changed to pass or fail. For instance, I cannot recall my grades and when I check myacca, all is see is that I have completed the examinations. Even my certificate only states that I have completed the examinations, so don’t worry about whether the institution will impact whether or not you get a job. Focus on your examinations and make sure you pass.

    Dear Sathjyot,
i am afraid you failed to understand my logic. studying ACCA from a gold status institution on one’s CV creates a good impression on the employer and one may have an edge over others. in addition to this institutions like lsbf, bpp, sunway have placement depts and assist their students in getting jobs in well reputable firms. the Big 4s recruit students from these institutions. an HR manager visited lsbf london to hire students for deloitte russia, kpmg hires a lot of students from sunway malaysia (platinum status) every year. what do you have to say about this?

    Dear Alkemist,
thanks for your response. please tell me does one get paid for the 3 years practical experience required along with the theory or is it more like an unpaid internship?

    Dear Eaan
Please accept my sicere apologies, if you think I hurt you. I have nothing to say about your confidence, its yours and you have real life examples. so I am unable to say anything about it.

    To Alkemist,
I admire you on your indepth knowledge on the ACCA syllabus, in fact I took lot of your replies in response to various questions posted by students in the past for passing my exams, especially one reply about sarce resource relevant to F-05 paper. some 3 years ago and I respect you.

I beg to differ on your reaction to my reply, as I believe,in this forum one should not cross the limit in terms of rudness and irrelavancy on the topic of discussion and should not use abusive language . This is an international forum and many participants’ first language is not english and therefore a natural flow would be difficult for them.

I believe let OT decide wheher my reply should be considered not kind and let them warn me.I request you that Let us not be the self proclaimed forum police. In the mean time I appreciate your concern and you may be right on your part, but you also did the same thing terming my response as mean, which is according to me a whisker away from abusive language.

Alright let us forget about this, and I assure you that I would do my level beston my reponses to be filled with loads of kindness going forward.

    Hi again emaan and sathjyot.

Thought Id give my advice again here.

I understand that you feel that going a gold status institution’s will give you an advantage in the job market but I feel you need to listen to sathjyot and Alkemist in this regard. It seems like you have come here to get clarification on your thoughts rather than for an opinion and although people are allowed an opinion I can assure you that yours are 100% wrong.

If there ever was to be an advantage it would be to those doing it without college and without help as this shows more desire having less money or sponsorship to spend on college. However at the end of the day either way makes no difference and all employers care about is whether you pass the exams and even if you put on your CV that you went to Kaplan or BPP it would not even be noticed.

Hopefully this matter can be put to bed and sorry if I came across as a little harsh and to the point but it simply had to be said.

    Enjoy the weekend buddy.

    @Emaan
Sorry for the late response. I get paid for my three years experience, since I am employed to the company. I don’t get paid as much as I would like, but I get paid.
