After ten years in the betting industry working anti social hours I got up to 40k a year but then fancied becoming a chartered accountant. However I cannot get a permanent role despite happy to start on 25k just done a few simple finance temp roles. I have passed f1-f6 with good marks. If I get my head down and study and keep passing the rest of the exams will employers then offer me a permanent role or should I go back to the betting industry? I’m currently studying f7 and f9 and enjoying it but am I just wasting my time because even if I score well will this have any impact on employers as so far they have ignored the good marks I got in the first six papers.

I’m in the same boat mate….apparently completing the F papers will make all the difference….

We’ll see, I feel my employer is just fobbing me off for 3 months

Try to get into public accounting/ auditing.

I dont think employers ask for ACCA marks. But getting good marks has a lot of pluses that you will realise later.

More marks means you have put more effort and because of that the concepts and knowledge will stay in your head longer ! Especially a paper like F7 is one of the core papers in the F group. Having a solid base will help you not only in your future papers but also help in your future career.

So dont just aim for a pass. give your best !

If employers do not really look at ACCA exams much which so far I feel they do not then I will be in the same position in June, at present I have no job and have passed six F papers and in June hopefully I will have passed 8 but will this make any impact or will I be in the same position but having wasted another 3 months? I would then plan to sit the final F paper in September but then come October will I have then passed all 9 F papers but still not have a job due to lack of experience?
