Hello, l have confusion here.what is the difference between declared and proposed dividend?does final dividend paid include interim dividend plus declared or does it include proposed?my understanding is that dividends paid is shown the statement of changes in equity, proposed dividends is disclosed in notes to the financial statements and declared dividends are shown in SOFP as current liability. please assist me there
Dividends declared are ‘certain’ so they are treated the same as dividends paid except that instead of crediting cash we credit a liability account which appears in the SOFP.
Proposed dividends are ‘suggested’ dividends and not yet certain. So they do not appear in the financial statements but instead are disclosed as a note.
Thank you thank you Sir
You are welcome 🙂
