Hi Mike..
What is the treatment of dividend received from sub and associate in statement of financial position.
None! It has been received and presumably correctly accounted for. So there are no implications for the statement of financial position
Thanks Mike… while calculating the Valuation of Associate could we deduct the dividend received from associate from investment +share of post-acq profit..
According to your first post, the dividend has been paid (and presumably correctly recorded) the investor will have Dr Cash an Cr Investment income
The associate will have Dr Retained earnings and Cr Cash
Why are you trying to affect the investment in the associate?
Working W5A investment in associate is calculated as Cost + share of post-acquisition RETAINED – any impairment
Thanks Mike..
You’re welcome
