I started my ACCA exams from the very beginning. I comfortably passed every exam first time, up to the end of the applied skills section.

I started the strategic professional exams in Dec’22, and having now sat all four of them, I have failed three. I scored 42% in SBL, 49% in AFM and now 43% in AAA. I did pass SBR with 64%.

I don’t know what it is about these strategic professional level exams, I just can’t crack them. I breezed through applied knowledge and applied skills, and I know that I know my technical stuff for all of these exams. But I just cannot get my head around what they expect.

I am so disheartened now, this latest fail makes me feel I just don’t have the “stuff” to be a professional accountant and I want to quit.

If anyone felt the same and had a similar experience, please share what you know about how you cracked it. What you did differently, how you approached it, whatever made the difference for you.

You might find some guidance on the individual exam forums, for example here for AAA https://opentuition.com/topic/how-i-passed-aaa-at-3rd-attempt-73

You don’t say but perhaps you spread yourself “too thinly” … attempting more than one SP exam in a session and/or not giving yourself enough time to prepare for each one. With a mark so close in AFM you should have been successful at a next attempt if that was “all” you had to focus on.

You need a “study plan” even for a resit and you can download a pdf here https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-support-resources/fundamentals-exams-study-resources/f7/compass-planning.html

It has an illustration to prepare for a resit.

You should check out ALL the exam technique and other essential articles for your chosen resit from the relevant pages

    E.g. here for AFM https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-support-resources/professional-exams-study-resources/p4.html

What mark did you get in ACCA’s mock? You should be marking this with the guidance provided in the debrief lecture.
