    Hi everyone,
I am based in Pakistan, I started CAT after completing O levels in 2009, by 2011 I was done with CAT and got my foot into ACCA. then step by step I completed my ACCA and became Affiliate. I am also working upon OBU Bsc thesis.

Now after all the hard work from all these years has returned me nothing because Heigher Education Comission (HEC) does not recognise CAT as equivalent to A levels, therefore my BSC hona is also not being recognised.
I had a dream that after Acca I’ll join lums for MBA but LUMS also require a Bsc hona degree recognised by HEC.
I feel like all the hard work I’ve been doing is wasted.

Please anyone show me a wayout.
Is there anyway cat could be recognised as equivalent to A levels?

Waiting for your kind replies thanks.

    Dear Dishearten ACCA affiliate,
I dont understand the reason of doing MBA after doing ACCA . I dont know regarding ur career goals, its good to have CPD but rather then moving forward u r moving in opposite direction. To be very honest u r humiliating the ACCA designation through comparing with the MBA of Pakistan. Non of the business institute of Pakistan is ranked among the top 1000 or 1500 business institutes of the world. I have seen MBA from IBA and LUMPS dont know any thing regarding the reporting, auditing at corporate level. just ask them basic of IAS 16 u will get the answer. Sorry to say their syllabus is based on 3 to 4 months semester and its the teacher who decide what to teach from the book (no formal syllabus). Apart from that, ACCA is a global professional accounting body having great respect throughout the globe. I m living in North America working in one of the best audit firms because of the ACCA designation and the brilliant teachers of Pakistan. If u evaluate the credentials of business institutes of Pakistan u have to complete bridging program in other countries. They are no way near to be very honest. I am not trying to disrespect or promote any institute but that the reality. You are thinking very small rather then doing MBA complete your practical experience from audit firm and see how the doors of success will open for you and your confidence will go up. (Sorry if I dishearten anyone)

Thanks m8 @u4612268 whatever your name is thanks for your responce.
I’m already working in an Audit firm. I’ll be an ACCA member in about 8 months. I know how successful I could be in my field but that’s not my aim. I also understand that the things and the depth of accountancy I know is only because of ACCA. You can ofcourse never compare an MBA with ACCA, ACCA is way to ahead in knowledge. But the thing I’m concerned about is that how can HEC not understand and make logical comparisons, I did my ACCA from BPP London, and UK Naric issued me a compatibility certificate saying my Acca fundamental level is equivalent to Bsc, based upon that certificate I can get admission in any good Uni for further studies but how can HEC not think same way.
I hope someday things get better

i just registered for the upcoming exams and studied for them for 2 weeks. make sure u meet their o levels requirements (i had to take pak studies, urdu and islamiyat o levels at the age of 25!). this is just their way of discouraging an internationally recognized qualification. classic pakistani issues 😀

Hello Madihaf92 , would completing A levels paper be of any use now ? because intermediate / A levels should be completed before initial admission into ACCA as i have read into the HEC document , did u confirm regarding this from HEC ?

    hello @aishaasad

ACCA certificates cannot be attested by HEC as its a global qualification , ACCA affiliate certificate can be attested by British council and ACCA local office , u can ask about more procedures from the ACCA office or british council .

Although it is too late now. But Faisal Azeem, head of Education, just updated recently that CAT recognition is in its final stages by HEC.

    Fingers crossed.
