What is the best way to prepare for the discussion based questions?
Are there more marks for the calculation parts in this exam?

The only way to prepare for discussion questions is to make sure you full understand what is happening in the calculations (and are not simply learning rules) and then to attempt every question in your Revision Kit and learn from the suggested answers.
Overall there is an even split between calculations and discussions, although many of the discussion marks are for the report required in question 1 and this is more about writing a decent report on your calculations rather than any special learning.
