I was wondering if the following would be correct? – In P1 and P3 marks were given in the exam for both knowledge of the various models and also application of that knowledge in case study scenarios. In SBL the marks are ALL for the application of the knowledge to case study scenarios, none for just the knowledge.
June 26, 2018 at 4:30 am #460141The cross-over between knowledge ans application is never clear cut. You certainly need knowledge before you can apply, but when it comes to question requirememts I don’t think that is really a significant difference between P3, say, and SBL. For example, in P3 it was relatively rare to be asked simply to explain a model. Requirements were almost invariable applying a model or framework or, if an esplanation was needed, it was in the context of a scenario – which really means applying the term or model. Similarly, in SBL, if you take Q3 (a) of Specimen Exam 1, you need knowledge of Mendelow’s Matrix to apply it. In Specimen Exam 2 Q1 (a) you are asked to identify and explain.
To me the main difference is that for the whole 4 hour exam you are dealing with one company(so read everything before attemptingmthe first, requirement) and that the information sources are somewhat ‘dressed up’ to be more representative of a working environment.
