Deontology = Normative = Non Consequentional
and
Teleology = Instrumental = Consequentional
Am I correct?
I agree with
Deontology = Non Consequentional
Telelogy = Consequentional
But not sure about Normative and Instrumental
Alright, thanks
deontology = in greek it means “duty”
it’s 1 set of never changing ethics rule
teleology = consequentialism
depends on the expected outcome
means when the projected outcome is good, it’ll justifies the act
normative = do it because it’s normally right to do so.
for example you bring a cup of coffee to your boss because he’s doing lots of hard work and it’s just normal to do so!
instrumental = do it because it makes you look good.
for example, you bring a cup of coffee to your boss because he’s your boss and you want him to win his heart to give you the next project. you’re doing it for a motive.
A cup of tea for my boss seems to me more Teleological – egoist view.. the question is : Is it good gor me?, the answer: Yes it is, one reason is “My boss is going to love me because I’m geting him a cup of tea”; The other reason is, “I can ask my boss for little favours (being late to work)”… Any favours to my boss (not related to the job) are more Teleological than Deontological.
