Hi, I have not started any studies yet and have 2 months until the Dec ’14 exams.
Is F8 doable from scratch in 2 months, self study full time? Are materials from OpenTuition alone more than sufficient to equip myself to do well? Also, is it encouraged for me to attempt another paper, choosing from F5-F7 or is it too much to handle for the 2 months period? Which is the fastest/easiest to master in 2 months time?
Thank you.
October 2, 2014 at 4:31 pm #203274You could do F8 in two months and another paper also, but it all depends on how much time you have to study. Attempting two exams would be a rather full-time pursuit.
F8 OT materials are enough to give you the theoretical basis, but you also need to practise questions – a lot. Most of the marks in F8 are scenario based you have to apply the theory to specific situations described in the question.
The exam in Decemebr will feature multiple choice questions for the first time (20 marks: 8 x 2 mark questions + 4 x 1 mark questions). We have lots of MCQ questions on the F8 part of the site.
I can’t really advise you on which other paper to try as it depends on what you like and are good at. I don’t think that one is particularly easier than the others.
October 2, 2014 at 4:47 pm #203277Thank you for your reply! I am studying full time on my own. Would you encourage to sit for 2/3 papers or stick to just 1 in December?
Do I need to buy textbooks or are the materials from OT sufficient ?
October 2, 2014 at 5:44 pm #203280If you are studying full time, I suggest 2 papers 🙂
You don’t need textbooks, but revision kits are useful to provide question practice.
October 2, 2014 at 5:47 pm #203281Thanks! Where can I purchase the revision kits from? I’m from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
October 2, 2014 at 7:11 pm #203283Look at the BPP and Kaplan internet sites. They will mail material, but postage can be expensive. Also they might have local distributors in KL – business bookshops etc.
