At professional level we can not predict our results mostly……….
January 20, 2015 at 7:37 am #223047i think they use the optional papers as a means of control more than anything. They probaly fail students to check the influx of accountants into the market and to maintain the prestige of acca (so that its not too easy a qualification)… if thats the case i have always proposed that they pass students who are on their 3rd maybe 4th attempt and have scored at least 45….
Am saying so not becoz am on my 4th attempt, its not about me… i really felt for my friend who was on his 5th consecutive attempt (P5) in June 2014 and they still failed him… poor fellow didnt even have the gas to redo it in Dec 2014.. he said he was taking time off to think.. poor guy… and am sure there are many such cases in the options
January 20, 2015 at 9:32 am #223060@kibalka I think you are very true. Especially, that now students will have the opportunity to join the profession every four times in a year (March, June, Sep and Dec) and I think maybe even revenue maximization is a goal for ACCA, as the exam fees increase after every two sittings. Maybe ACCA knows that once we qualify, we won’t do exams so while we are at it, they can milk the cash out lol
January 20, 2015 at 12:33 pm #223074I don’t think it is ACCA policy to deliberately fail students. I know a number of people who are markers and there is no indication that they have to keep the pass rate down, in fact it is the opposite.
If you think about it, if say only 10% of students passed each exam, people would give up and move to other bodies ie CIMA and no one new would join, so revenue would plummet.
You can see that with some of the options. P5 was once the most popular option now it is the least, this is purely down to the examiner pass rate.
Where I do think that ACCA let’s itself down is with the appointment of examiners. Some (like P7) I think are very fair, others like (P5) are not.
I would like to think that ACCA have spoken to the P5 examiner, looked at the exams he has set and the drop in pass mark and asked him what is going on. So far with little success! In the recent exam the subjects were not that bad but the clarity of the questions and mark allocation were poor.
I’ve mentioned on other threads some points I find wrong with the Dec 14 P5 exam. In addition his mark allocation are all over the place.
For example Q4 Part a asks to Evaluate the result and the appropriateness of two models for 10 marks. usually these type of questions are split evenly.
However, if you look at his allocation in the examiner’s answers he gives 1 for the first part and 9 for the second – hardly an even split! He does add an additional 4 marks if you explain how a quantitative model works – but that was not asked for in the requirement, so why waste time writing about it!
January 20, 2015 at 4:02 pm #223089I’ve received from Becker and now from BPP, is it an indication or just speculation??? Did you get such emails last time when you failed???
January 20, 2015 at 4:08 pm #223090How can you be so sure it’s a generic email and not for failures???
January 20, 2015 at 4:38 pm #223091@unstopabl3 i hate to say this but going by my experience i cannot confidently tell you those emails are merely generic.
I received one from Global Training last time but not this early, it was like 7days to results….. i asked whether any finalist got it but no one replied.. its hard to tell
Maybe we could ask, is there any finalist who has not received these two emails this time??
There is something that worked last sitting… keep checking your ‘Results Corespondence’ under ‘Exam Status & Results’ from myacca. Check from 28th Jan upto around 4th Feb and see if you’ll see an ‘Online Transfer Letter’. Those who got it ended up being affiliates

Thanks I’ll keep an eye out for that as well, myacca seems to be down atm though, so definitely they are cooking something 😛
What’s this ” Online Transfer Letter ” anyways???
January 20, 2015 at 4:58 pm #223096There is something definitely up with myacca. Usually this is a sign that the site is being readied for results upload in the next week or so.
@Kibalka is correct in that finalist should be keeping an eye out for this transfer letter which will happen in and around the same the same time your status report date will no longer update to the current date.I’ve got a hunch that with the answers being uploaded for P7 more than a week earlier than the last set of exams that ACCA are ahead of curve this time around, and it may be slightly earlier than 28th/29th per last sitting.
January 20, 2015 at 5:01 pm #223098By the way I got the course details last sitting and this sitting, and never when I’ve passed all the other papers.
I failed last paper and am not holding my breath this time around (read into it what you may).

Nvm I read your posts again you’ve received them again eh, very unsettling indeed 🙁
January 20, 2015 at 5:09 pm #223101Those emails are generic.
Last time a guy got tons of those and he thought he “got the lowest marks in ACCA history” but he turned out to maintain his 1st time pass and became an affiliate in 2.5 years.January 20, 2015 at 5:11 pm #223102@p4student said:

Are you on your last paper as well??? P4 I assume …and retake I assume???
January 20, 2015 at 5:11 pm #223103@Abdul the answers weren’t updated early, I predicted the date on this thread (dt 5th Jan):

I’m 100% sure. From your last email from ACCA search for option that lets you change preferences and get free of those pesky emails.

January 20, 2015 at 5:56 pm #223115I got the BPP and Becker e-mails too, those are sent every January and are purely generic.
January 21, 2015 at 3:42 am #223136Is there any situation where anyone got results before officially released?
I don’t think it would have been happened earlier..
January 21, 2015 at 6:22 am #223141@kumaran Yes there were numerous situations in the past but acca has managed to seal most of them… Last sitting only finalists could tell using a certain link whether they had made it or not, plus the Online Transfer Letter
January 21, 2015 at 6:38 am #223143ooooh even non finalists had a small leak.. under ‘Exams’ down there where we have ‘Resources’… Those who had failed some or all of their papers had ‘Administrative Review’ added under ‘Resources’, remember it is usually not there…. however this happened only a day or two before results day. This was true for finalists as well
January 21, 2015 at 6:54 am #223145@kibalka I can see the “administrative review” under “exam status and results” in myACCA account. It follows the section of “results correspondence” so does that mean I’ve failed some of my papers, like P2? Oh my God.
January 21, 2015 at 6:55 am #223146It’s saying “ACCA undertakes many checks and controls during the marking process to ensure that all exam results are accurate. However, we recognise that students may sometimes feel that their results do not reflect their perceived performance in the exam. In response to this, ACCA provides an administrative review service.
Find out more about the administrative review service”January 21, 2015 at 7:17 am #223147@Gabriel, thats where it usually is… but it will now appear under ‘Exams’.. ‘Resources’… where you have 3 items as below
– Exam timetable
– Exam papers
– Student disciplinary procedures
– Administrative review (this option will appear so that you can apply for it)Those who’ve passed dont get it
Right now you only have the first 3January 21, 2015 at 7:20 am #223148 - AuthorPosts
