In a higher education teaching organization an academic faculty is organized into courses and departments, where teaching staff report both to course program managers and to subject specialists, depending on which course they teach and upon their particular subject specialism. According to Charles Handy’s four cultural stereotypes, which of the following describes the above of organisational structure?
my answer is role culture since the organization seems to be very bureaucratic but the answer given is task.
i am unable to understand why?
please help
I would probably have gone for role culture too. I really don’t think that the question really gives enough information. For example, we are not told how closely and strictly set each course is. There might be no freedom at all in what is taught and hkw it is taught or it could be much more flexible.
The question might be relying on an assumption that academic staff would be relatively unlikely to tolerare a role culture, but if that is so then the question is rather poor.
