Which is the best way of understanding the logic behind the consolidated statement of financial position and how to answer questions relating to it. Thanks
May 15, 2011 at 4:03 pm #61930Have you worked through the course notes? Or study text? Or revision kit questions?
the CoFP is the reflection of the fair value of net assets which are under the control of the parent company as at the financial year end together with an analysis of the way those assets are funded by equity shares, other reserves and retained earnings and the outside non-controlling interest ( also long term finance from outside lenders )
May 15, 2011 at 4:11 pm #61931Thanks for the reply, yes I have been through all the 3 but for some reason I just cannot get my head round it. Could you please suggest best possible ways to get it in.
May 16, 2011 at 3:47 pm #61932hi – the only thing I can suggest at this ( late ) stage is question practice. Satrt with the “preparation questions” from the revision kit and work your way up to exam standard questions. Seriously, the more you practice the same “moves” the more automatic it becomes and, at the same time, the clearer will become the logic behind it. Don’t get put off by the little idiosyncracies within individual questions – there’s always something a little bit out of the ordinary. Don’t let those “bits” put you off.
Try a couple of questions before you post again and, if you’re still needing an explanation of any parts of those “couple” then post again and I’ll try to explain them for you
May 16, 2011 at 4:26 pm #61933thats very true practice is working for me although it needs a lot of hours per day so as to cover ground
