Please help me work out this terrible mess im in!!!i have been forced to answer F1 F2 F3 n F4 even though i was not prepared for them. My sir had ticked for my exams online without my knowledge n i eventually failed in all. Now his teachin me F5 F6 and F8. I still have my first four papers yet to clear. now that the syllabus is changing next session i really dont knw which papers to go ahead n give in december. Can u please suggest. im really fustrated.
Thanking you all in anticipation
September 24, 2010 at 10:19 am #68642Plen , your situation is not so clear …
how could they force you to pass anything ..and why you keep using their service?!!?
September 24, 2010 at 4:20 pm #68643how could they force me??? its a long story
the thing is that June 2010 was my first attempt to acca. n so i was new to all the rules n i didnt have a clear picture about acca. i wasnt even recieving any mails frm UK. and i kept writing to acca that i didnt recieve any mails from them yet. months passed n it was gettin late to enter for examsn so i had to enter my exams online. the only problem was i didnt have a credit card neither did any of my friends but my sir had one so he entered for my exams n selected my papers
Now my sir was aware that he will not be in a position to teach me all the four papers in fact he didnt even teach me F1 and yet he selected that paper for me to answer (can u believe that, i thought teachers were to help the students) the biggest part that shocked me was when i came to knw from another person that it was upto me to choose how many papers i wanted to give n me silly thought this was a school and that i had to give all the papers i was being taught. i go back asking my sir y he never told me that i could choose the papers i wanted to give, all he said was ” oh yes u can even do that” i was totally terrified i felt as though i was being kept in the dark.
here in kuwait, we have one or two tuition providers for acca so i had to stick with them.
should i first clear my failed papers that is F1, F2 F3 and F4 n then attempt F5 F8 and F6. his currently teaching me F5 F6 n F8
September 24, 2010 at 5:19 pm #68644Knowledge level = F1, F2 and F3
Skills level = F4, F5, F6, F7, F8 and F9
Professional level = P1 and P2
Optional papers = P3, P4, P5 and P6 (any two)
You cannot jump to other level before completing previous level.
So you have to do F1 F2 and F3 before entering into F4, F5, F6, F7, F8 or F9.
Though you can give F1, F2, F3 and F4 because you are also completing the previous level plus you can have 4 papers…Stop being taught these F5, F6 and F8…
Concentrate on F1, F2, F3 and F4I hope I got your question right, lol
September 24, 2010 at 5:22 pm #68645Indeed , listen to Salman’s advice and you know what:
for knowledge module you don’t need tuition!
do self-study! it will be more then enough, but use texts of official publishers (Kaplan and BPP) and study hard and regularly:good luck…
September 24, 2010 at 5:36 pm #68646Thank u so much salman and ansi. sending u a thank u hug. how do u guys knw so much about all these. is it like put up online or something
September 24, 2010 at 6:07 pm #68647U are welcome Plen
and just as a little advice , get familiar with accaglobal :))))))u could find answer to your question here :
https://www.accaglobal.com/students/acca/info/progressionrulesSeptember 26, 2010 at 4:15 pm #68648Hi Plen,
make sure you change your password so your lecturer can not select your next set of papers, otherwise you might find yourself entered for 4 papers again.
September 27, 2010 at 10:18 am #68649i will advice you take f1 f2 f3 f4. if you go skip them and take f5,f6,f7 you will get stranded especially if you dont have an accounting background.
September 27, 2010 at 10:21 am #68650please dont make the mistake of skipping f1 f2 f3 f4. u may get stranded in f5 and f7 especially if u skip the basics
May 18, 2011 at 7:59 am #68651TO be frank, plen it was mighty careless of you not to look into the information about your exam yourself. You can contact ACCA directly on any matters such as this, they are very helpful and swift in response.
Also, You cannot sit F5-F9 before clearing F1-F4. Just because your tutor is teaching a paper doesnt mean you have to study it as well. The basics of F5 are in F2 and F7 in F3. You need to have some info about law (F4) before sitting F8. Take it slow, LEarn and Get to know your qualification and then decide! After all that what professional qualification is all about.
Also, there are a number of people giving tuitions on ACCA in kuwait, you can look into that option as well. But nevertheless, the decision to sit the exam, choose which and PASS rest within you hand.
There is also an ACCA qualified giving 1 month – 1 week revision classes designed for students giving papers the second/third time or simply looking for a recap. The timing are designed according to your suitability. A friend of mine is attending P7 and P3 revision classes there. Its a one month plan for her for P3 and 1 Week plan for P7. You can only contact on recommendation basis. If it helps let me know and I will email you the contact details.

May 18, 2011 at 5:56 pm #68652hey ash,
Totally appreciate ur opinion!!
hw do u knw im based at kuwait:o n ummm i doubt if there r number of ppl tutoring for acca, u’ll rarely find 3 or 4 and if u do, are they even capable of teaching??
May 19, 2011 at 11:38 am #68653Lol, Dear plen you have mentioned in you earlier post ‘here in Kuwait’.
Well, i have couple of friends doing ACCA from kuwait. Yes, I agree that most tutors here are not capable of teaching but then again, you cant judge until you yourself study from them. As more and more students here are doing ACCa they are getting the feel of teaching it out as well.
I know some friends who are attending classes with a tutor (and these guys have the same comments as yours) and one friend who studies from a qualified ACCA. Her tutor has a complete study plan handed out to her before the start of the session and she has mocks almost weekly which are marked and returned to her before the start of next topic. As per my friends comment her tutor is totally capable. So you see you do have options, U just have to look out and decide for yourself.
Nevertheless, I believe the first meeting with a tutor explains all about if the tutor is capable or not. The student just has to be wise enough to pick up on these vital points.
Goodluck with you attempts,
Regards
