    Hi sir,

I am confused on this question I found,

Liam was convicted of a criminal offence by a Magistrate’s Court in the English legal system.
If Liam has grounds to appeal, which court will the case move to next?
    A Crown Court
    B High Court
    C Court of Appeal
    D Supreme Court

I first answered A, because I thought it goes to Crown Court from Magistrate’s Court as the diagram was shown in the BPP textbook.

However, why does the answer key state like this “Appeals from a Magistrate’s Court are heard by the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division).” ?

Does it always go directly to High Court from the Magistrate’s Court?

    Thank you Sir

I believe that the Crown Court is involved where the case is too important for a magistrates’ court

So appeals from both Magistrates’ Court and Crown Court go on to High Court on appeal

    OK?
