‘Would like to have the car. Can you offer a six-month guarantee against mechanical breakdown?’
What would the sentence above constitute:
A. Counter-offer
B.Request for more information
Please provide an explanation of the chosen answer.
Hi Divya,
If it is phrased in the way you have written it then I would argue that “Can you offer a six month guarantee….” is a question rather than a counter offer.
Had the sentence been “I will only buy the car if you give a six month guarantee…then that is more likely to be deemed a counter offer” because it is adding a new term.
I hope this clarifies.
Kind regards.
Vijay
Oh I see. Now I can understand better. Thanks!
