In chapter 17 eg 1 of your notes the answer shows a deduction of 68000 as AIA for a van purchased,is that correct?AIA is not provided for motor vehicles ryt?

No correction required – it is only motor cars where no AIA is available. AIA is available on vans, lorries and trucks.
