Sir, I am finding it difficult to spot the general and application controls in a scenario. What can I do and I have read the notes again.

If it is to do with a specific piece of software it is an application control.

If it is do to with the IT system in general eg physical safeguarding, virus checkers, it is a general control.

Application controls are aimed primarily at completeness accuracy and authorisation and are described in the notes.

There is nothing more I can usefully add.
