An placed an advertisement in the friday edition of a local paper stating:
‘ Unique opportunity to own a Bell print for $500 cash. Offer valid for one day only- tomorrow Saturday.’
– Could you explain how does this constitute of an offer and not invitation to treat?
This is similar to a past exam question where an item was offered for sale with the words “This is a serious offer”
In that case, there was a tight time limit and payment of cash was specified
To answer your question … we’re in an area where the difference between black and white is 50 shades of grey
It would seem that where such an advert as the one you have quoted looks like it’s making it absolutely clear that it is an offer, then it’s an offer
But, I agree with you, it’s a tricky area
