Hi Team,
I was attempting a practice paper last night and came across this question:
Prepare briefing notes for the board which advise how employee dissatisfaction may impact upon each stage of the organisational change process.
My immediate thought was to apply the Context of Change Model.
However, I struggled to apply it to the employee dissatisfaction highlighted in the scenario.
So I checked the markscheme and it mentioned Lewin’s model. I am fully aware hyper focusing on models is not the focus of this exam and as long as the answer is logical it doesnt really matter. However, I genuinely wouldnt have had a clue on how to answer this question using the Context of Change model.
(june 2022 q2a)
Would you be able to give me some top tips please?
I know its a lot to ask but possibly an example answer for one element of the model, lets say scope? Just so I can proceed as I am unfortunately struggling.
If I had to try I would answer like this (as you can see im not sure what points I should be hitting here):
Scope & Timing:
The location change is a significant change as it moves from two sites in the town of Hambledon to one large site on the Coast of Lympool. Employees generally accept this change, however have expressed concerns in regard to flooding issues. The change is anticipated to take place in a few months which would be a reasonable timeframe, given employees have accepted the suggest proposal albeit several concerns. Thanks so much in advance and sorry for a lengthy question, I hope you will consider my question.

June 2, 2025 at 12:29 pm #717582Hi,
You need to use the three stages model. It mentions “each stage” in the question. Unfreeze, Changing and Freeze.
Maybe you can’t answer to the question with the Context of Change as you shouldn’t use that model.June 2, 2025 at 2:14 pm #717585thank you that makes sense
June 2, 2025 at 11:14 pm #717605Letwin’s model is about resistance what you haven’t mentioned here (no resistance information, dissatisfaction for what?). However, the answer can be still structured under Context of Change Model.
For example, identifying whether the change of location is strategic or not. What is the nature of change and scope of change. Whether the change has made to save cost or it will help to bringing revenue up. Whether the existing premises (current one) stayed long time in one place (current) or not and many of other related issues question should have indicated.
However, as previous commentators already said that, the question have asked about each stages to be discussed so it appears the Lewin’s model (resistance makeup) will be best suited.
