how can calculate the retained earning balance on mid acquition
My technique always:
if for group I.S: i.e given RE @ reporting date $20,000, pforfit for the year given $10,000, mid-acq: 6momths to y/e
= 20,000 – (6/12 x 10,000)= 15,000 RE @ acq, However be carefuel that the $20,000 might be stated for RE b/f- therefore: should be: 20,000 + 10,000= 30,0000 RE @ reporting date, then RE @ acq: 30,000-(6/12×10,000)
Wow! That seems awkward. Why not check out the OT notes for a mid-year acquisition working
