Hi sir! I failed in f6 in the most recently held exams. Due to lack of practice i didn’t have enough speed while answering the questions. So in the end i had to leave a whole question and half of another question unattempted. These days i hear rumours that in an acca exam if we don’t attempt a question at all ,the examiner will cut down the marks so that we fail in that particular exam. Is this true ?
No, that is not true.
However, if you do leave out (say) a 20 mark question, then obviously you are only going to be marked out of 80 which makes it harder to achieve pass marks.
You should always attempt every part of every question. It may mean leaving many parts not finished. However almost always the first 50% of the marks on a question take less than 50% of the time – it then starts to take longer and longer to get the rest of the marks on the question. You should be aiming to get at least 50% of the marks on every part of every question – if you have achieved that you have passed, and every extra mark you get after that is almost a bonus 🙂
