Part of the company registration details is that a company should have an address. Can you please guide on companies that intend to only operate online. Is it a must for them to also have an address?

Companies must have an address for 2 reasons:
1 it’s a place where the company’s statutory books are maintained (register of members, register of directors and others)
2 it’s an address at which formal notice may be served. If an official formal notification has to be delivered to the company (for example, a Court order that notifies the company that it has to comply with some legal requirement) there has to be an address for that delivery of legal documents.
In answer to your post, yes, even if a company intends to operate solely online, a company must have an address.
