Afternoon all,
I’ve tried looking through the subreddit and different forums but just want to double check that I definitely need to do the Foundation in Accounting course…. I’m a UK uni graduate (32 y/o, better late than never I guess!) however my degree was in media and I haven’t worked in an accounts role before. My last coupe of jobs have been as an ops manager which involved paying suppliers, reconciling the bank feed in Freeagent and administrating payroll however all of the actual calculations to do with payroll were done by our accountant, I then just carried out the bank transactions once they sent over the payslips.
Based on this, I’m pretty certain I need to do the FIA course so that will be FA1, MA1, FA2, MA2. After that I need to do 2 of FAB, FMA & FFA. Then I can go onto the proper ACCA course with no exemptions.
Is all of this correct? Any clarification would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.
January 14, 2021 at 2:32 am #605758From my experience I only had O levels. I did three FIA papers which was FAB FMA FFA then I moved to Acca level 2 which is the fundamental level. I got exempted from level one after doing those three papers. Hope this helps. The best thing is to contact Acca
January 14, 2021 at 7:32 am #605762@ryan316 – NO you do not need to do FIA – it does not matter that you have not done a “relevant” degree (i.e. in accounting). In fact, the fact that you have any degree and work experience which touches on accounting matters means you should be starting at the qualification level.
Find your qualification details here and you will see that what you have is sufficient for registration for the ACCA Qualification
https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/qualifications/glance/acca/minimum-entrance.htmlThe Foundation level awards are for those who an NOT eligible for the ACCA Qualification.
So forget about FA1, MA1, FA2, MA2 and register for the ACCA Qualification. (The “top/last” FIA exams – FAB, FFA, FMA – are IDENTICAL to the “bottom/first” ACCA exams – AB, FA and MA.)
