Hello,
I have a question, maybe someone had the same doubt. Is a person holding the “Certified Internal Auditor” title a “professional accountant”? I’m not sure whether I can ask such a person for signing my performance objectives off?
It is not clear whether IIA is a body with a membership in IFAC.
I will be grateful for any answers.
According to IFAC website, IIA is not listed as a member body https://www.ifac.org/what-we-do/global-impact-map/members-associates (click on UK on the map)
It does also say her https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/practical-experience-per/practical-experience-supervisor.html thata supervisor can be a qualified accountant “recognised by law in your country”. However, these are accountancy bodies (ACCA, ICAI, ICAS, ICAEW and CIPFA).
So I think the answer is no, although they can sign-off your time in a relevant role:
“If your line manager is not qualified they can still sign-off your time in a relevant role and you’ll need to nominate an additional qualified supervisor to sign-off your objectives. This additional supervisor could be another manager within the organisation, a consultant or the organisation’s external accountants or auditors who will work with your line manager to validate your experience. Your additional supervisor must have a business connection to your employer or organisation.”
Kim,
Many thanks for the explanation! 🙂
