Hi Tutor,
According to Burns and Scapens there are 3 main reasons which change the role of management accountant. My question is why have these 3 reasons not affected the role og individual managers?
Thank you.
Structure, technology and competition affect every manager’s role but B&S were specifically writing about management accountants.
Right but if structure, technology and competition would affect management accountant so will it affect managers as you said, so wouldn’t they also become more knowledgable and competitive themselves in comparision to management accountants?
Thank you.
Yes….so what? Management accountants’ roles can still alter, even if other roles do to. For example, if competition increases, the design team have to get better and might make more use of computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing. New products will be more quickly developed and the MA will have to give frequent guidance on budgets, product profitability etc.
Okay. Thank you very much.
God bless.
