Dear Sir,
please guide me whether i have answered it right or not.A Manager wants to code Raw Material Inventory in a way that it reflects its measurement in length and width.
Which of the following Codes will be suitable for this?
A) Bar
B) Alphabetical
C) Sequential
D) MnemonicMy Answer is A) Bar Codes.
The reason is that, i think both B) & C) aren’t suitable for reflecting Numerical terms (such as measurements here) in items, while option C) got me confused a little as there wasn’t such example given in the BPP Study Text which i have used for this paper. This leaves only option A) but Bar Codes aren’t included in the ‘Source Documents and Coding’ chapter in the text. So, i haven’t read anything about bar codes just yet.
I’ve only selected that option because i think the other 3 options aren’t suitable for the question. Please guide me whether i’ve done it right or not.
Thanks alot.January 19, 2016 at 1:34 pm #296267A bar code is not a method of coding it is a way of displaying information – such as used in supermarket products. The bar can display all sorts of things.
I would go for mnemonic eg L3W2 for a piece of wood 3m long and 2m wide.

Thanks for the clarification.
I thought Mnemonic codes only contain Alphabets, as these are used for more of an abbreviation purpose. Now that you’ve given that example, i understand that Mnemonic codes can contain Numbers and Alphabets both as well.Again, thanks a lot for the response. I’m grateful.

Please am about tp write my ma1 exam ..how do you get rid of all the nervousness? Am so nervousYou won’t feel nervous if you put all of your concentration on your screen only. There’s more than enough time available, so no time pressure either. Plus you’ll have enough time to gather yourself before the start.
And best of luck for your paper 🙂August 31, 2017 at 10:36 pm #404750Thank you so much…..this is really helping me
September 1, 2017 at 8:00 am #404813Please i need to clarify on this question
Receipts and issues of raw materials for a period were:
Units $/unt cumulative $
Day1 balance. 160. 3.70. 592
Day2 receipt. 230. 3.60. 1420
Day5 issue. 110.
Day8. Issue. 150Using LIFO inventory pricing method ,what is thr total cost of thr issue on day 8?…am getting 540 but they say answer is B….how is that??
A $540
B $543
C$545
D$ 555September 1, 2017 at 8:59 am #404817The issue of 110 units on Day 5 must have been made from the 230 units received on Day 2. So, after this issue there were 120 units left from those 230.
Now, for the issue of 150 units on Day 8, 120 units from Day 2 and 30 units from Day 1 must have been used. These will be valued as:
120*$3.6 = $432
30*$3.7 = $111
Total = $543Its all about common sense. You were using 230 units of Day 2 for the issue while not considering the earlier issue of 110 units on Day 5.
