Dear John
I was practicing on ACCA CBE platform (my first CBE exam). Could you help to advise below questions?
1) Can we paste “Value” in excel? , i can only paste formula, even i do not use shortcut key, and select “paste – value ” still only formula is pasted. Not sure in exam how does this work?
2) in Excel, when entering texts Longer than with cell width, the texts exceeding the cell width are not shown (unlike in Microsoft Excel, it will appear above the next cell). Can I still enter long texts (to explain and remark my numbers) or MUST I drag the whole Column longer?
3) Following 2), if i can enter long texts in excel despite it will not appear in full;
Eg a question 15 marks on Hedging (asking for calculation and remarks/assumptions), Can I do the full question 15 marks in excel? (Because i find it much easier to focus on 1 table).4) Seems like the “format painter” in CBE practice excel is not working? No matter I press the icon, nothing happens, is this normal or there is a different way (from microsoft excel) in using it?
Many thanks for your help sir!
March 1, 2021 at 9:15 am #612265I am afraid that I am limited in my answers to this because I do not have access to the ACCA practice platform.
For (3) although you can type in the spreadsheet, for anything other than a line or two of discussion you should use the word processor.
All I can suggest is that you keep practicing on the practice platform but also that you read (if you have not already done so) the ACCA booklet that you can find by going to the following page:
https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-support-resources/professional-exams-study-resources/p4/cbe-preparation.htmland then clicking on the link towards the bottom of the page called “CBE Guidance Document”/
