hello sir
i will be attmepting f6 cbe in march
it is compulsory in my country for cbe..
i am a self study student .
so inorder to get the practise on computer.. can you give some advice..
what would you suggest to prevent running out of time in the exam.. should i write dowm the solution on a paper and type it out on the computer or should i type it om the computer..
should i type out answers on computer everyday to increase the speed..January 23, 2018 at 4:39 pm #432478Most of the exam is MCQ so there is nothing to write on the computer other than choice of answer – only section C requires written answers which I would advise you do on the computer.
There is a wealth of information on the ACCA website to use but first task is to gain the knowledge from the notes and lecturesJanuary 23, 2018 at 9:20 pm #432530ok sir
so.. how should i attempt.. the paper .. should i do the longer qs first and then the mcqs? what is your recommended approach
ps: i am really enjoying your lecturw videos it is simply excellent.January 26, 2018 at 4:39 pm #433204Different students will prefer different ways of approaching the exam and different ACCA material providers may make different suggestions, but yes I would do the Section C written questions first as here you can score marks for what you do right and not as in MCQ’s lose the 2 marks for one error!
When you do the MCQ’s do NOT allow individual difficult questions to slow you down but move on to ensure that you find all the easier marks on the paper for you and do not lose those marks by running out of time having spent too long worrying about a few complex questions that you probably won’t get right and that you do not need anyway!!January 30, 2018 at 12:53 am #433916hello sir
i wanted to know your opinion regarding this matter.
i am left with f6 and 1 optional paper.. the optional paper that i have passed is p7..
so, in december i wrote p5 and i got 49..
and for f6 i had already booked for the exam before itself..
i thought the exam entry deadline is 30th of jan .. but unfortunately its 29th.. so if i book myself for p5 i will have to pay double the cost..
and originally i was planning to write f6 and p5..
but now.. if i have to book myself for p5 i have to pay extra amount so i am just writing f6..
and currently i am enjoying f6 a lot..and since anyway for march i am taking only f6 and not p5.. i feel.. p5 i will have to start studying from scratch..
and because i attempted it once and got 49 i felt obliged to stick with it..and write it again..
but now since for a month i will be doing f6 only..
i feel f6 would be fresh in my mind and that i should try p6 for june session..
i am not under estimating the amount of work for p6 but i feel .. anyway i will have to start p5 from scratch..and since i liked f6 i feel.. i will be able to enjoy p6..
so i wanted your advice..
if its a good idea to shift to p6? if i take classes and give my best try at p6.. is it like a passable paper? i feel to take p6 because i feel.. doing f6 now will keep the basics fresh .. so thats what gave me that idea to try p6..
the thought of doing p5 again .. reading through past papers from scratch.. its kind of boring.. i want to do a problem based paper ..its more enjoyable.. so please give me your opinion sir.. i will follow itJanuary 30, 2018 at 1:04 am #433917i want to know how p6 is… is it a paper that has a lot of syllabus but questions are standard kind.. or questions are extremly hard..i can commit myself to the paper and put in the effort required.. but i wanted to know about the paper.. because if its like really difficult …
now difficulty level means.. lots to learn but standard questions…or really hard questions…
i was thinking of taking classes .. f8 was something that i enjoyed a lot and even p7 i enjoyed a lot… i had a confusion of my second option paper .. and i took p5.. i did not enjoy it that much.. so i feel if i take something that i can enjoy it will give a better result.. i could be wrong.. but i am confused..January 30, 2018 at 1:06 am #433918but if you feel p6 is a good idea ..i will take that paper..for june session
January 30, 2018 at 9:16 am #433957Glad that you are enjoying F6 and wish you every success in the March exam!
P6 although having a foundation in key areas of F6 is a very different paper being based on the practical application of tax knowledge to both business and personal tax scenarios and is mostly a written exam rather than a computational paper.
International pass rates for the UK P6 paper will show you that students find this a very difficult paper and it is not one that should be attempted unless you have access to high quality local training provision!
Given that you scored 49 in P5 and you also have access here to the OT material and lecture provision and potentially a local revision course then that I would suggest is by far the most sensible option and depending on where you are based and what career path you may choose is likely to be of more use to you in the future.
Good luck!January 30, 2018 at 9:49 am #433962hmm thankyou for the advice sir..
so now i am going to make my decision.. i will enter for p5 .. the late exam entry.. and i will write both and let you know about the result.. i feel this session should not be wastd.. i should give a try.atleast..
thankyou for your advice sir.. it took away the confusionJanuary 30, 2018 at 12:20 pm #433976Work hard and make sure you get lots of question practice from a revision / exam kit from one of the ACCA approved providers!
