If the month end cash book balance is $23,543, unpresented cheques total $13,234 and bank charges are $50, what is the bank balance per the bank statement?
Ans is $36,727
The correct cash book balance is 23,543 – 50 = $23,493.
The unpresented cheques will not have appeared on the bank statement and therefore the balance on the bank statement will be 23,493 + 13,234 = $36,727.
