buying investment means we have surplus cash
selling investments means we need cash
So
Selling investments is same as selling the stocks ( finished products ) ?
I assume you are asking this in relation to cash management?
If that is the case then certainly if they have surplus cash they might choose to invest it in short-term investments ad then sell the investments when they need the cash.
Buying and selling investments is buying and selling shares in companies and is nothing to do with inventories of finished products.
