Hi
Does anybody know whether there are going to be any significant changes to the tax syllabus and text book for June 2012? I bought the F6 FA10 Tax textbook for the Dec 2011 sitting but didn’t take the exam and thought I might be able to use it for June 2012 instead of paying for new materials. Thanks in anticipation of your help.
December 14, 2011 at 1:35 pm #91440I was just about to ask exactly the same question, when I spotted your post! Hopefully somebody can advise, because I also have the FA 2010 text book, and am planning to take my F6 exam in June next year.
December 14, 2011 at 6:32 pm #91441NO, you can’t
June/December F6 2012 exams will use FA2011
you are therefore advised to get updated books.
notes will also be updated for the June 2012 exams (sometime in February will be on line)December 16, 2011 at 4:06 pm #91442Thanks for the clarification admin, it looks like I’ll have to buy another book then!
How much numerical information are we expected to remember for the exam? For instance, do we have to remember the various personal allowances for each age group, the income figure where the tax percentage rises (from 20% to 40% & 50%) etc?
Apart from a few numerical tax changes from one tax year to the next, does the treatment of tax basically stay the same? I’m a third of the way through my FA2010 book now, so I hope I haven’t been learning the wrong thing.

December 23, 2011 at 9:44 am #91444I got my new book yesterday. At first I thought I’d been sent a counterfeit copy! The pages are a faded yellowy/brown colour, with a very thin and cheap feel to them. Maybe BPP is looking to make a saving with the quality of the paper. I prefer the old white paper personally, but maybe I’m just fussy!

January 17, 2012 at 10:09 pm #91446I don’t know which book is better out of BPP and Kaplan, because I’ve only ever used the BPP books. I’ve heard that the BPP books are longer winded than Kaplan, so maybe it would be easier to pass exams using Kaplan. I self-study, what about you tify71?

You are correct. its better you start studying. There would be some changes which you can incorporate later stage.
