Hi all,
I work in healthcare and I don’t have a background in accounting or finance but would really like a career change. I’m approaching 33 and I’m conscious of how long it’ll take even doing CIMA alone without AAT, but I’m curious if it’ll hurt my chances finding work when the time comes.
I’m happy to buy AAT materials and read them alongside or as references to fill in gaps throughout CIMA, but principally I’d like to complete it as soon as reasonably possible.
Am I shooting myself in the foot by not doing AAT?

I started by doing AAT first and now doing CIMA operational. AAT would teach you the same things as the first four courses in CIMA but over a longer period.
If you are confident in your understanding of the first 4 modules in CIMA then there’s no need to undertake AAT. I don’t think if you were to go straight into CIMA it would hurt your chances anymore/less then if you had started doing AAT. However, it can be difficult getting into finance without any experience.
