The business case primarily looks at costs vs benefits to give an economic justification of the project. The PID includes much more:

    Why is the project needed?
    Sponsor and who is paying/
    Business case
    Project scope and deliverables
    Costs and time lines
Who will carry out the project? Manager and project team members.

It’s what it should deliver. For example, improved inventory control, better customer service, an up-to-date internet site. The words ‘improved’, ‘better’ ‘up-do-date’ used there are really all too hazy. For example, what is meant by ‘better customer service’? We could be arguing all day about what’s meant. So deliverables really need to be very well specified (a bit like the careful description of objectives)
