When preparing a business case, one of the elements is an analysis of the ‘current strategic position.’
1. Is that current strategic analysis streamlined to include only those factors pertinent to justifying the strengths the project could exploit, the weaknesses the project could overcome or suffer from and just those opportunities and threats that have a direct impact or significance for the project being undertaken?
2. Would we ever, for example, point to prior project successes, as an indication that the organisation is competent in discharging projects?
1 You should confine your discussion to relevant SWOT factors, but it is likely that most if the information provided in a question will be relevant to the question.
2 Prior successes would indicate certain knowhow and expertise and this could be a valuable resource ie a strength.
