    This is regarding your course notes, chapter 11, example 1. In this example usage is calcualated based on production units. And production units as well as materials are in inventory. To calculate actual quanity used, in your example opening inventory is substracted and closing is added. Is it a new version? Was there a change in calculation? Is it not visa versa opening is added and closing is substracted?

    New version??? Nothing has changed in the last 300 years!

    Have you watched the lecture on this chapter (because there is obviously no point in using the notes without the lectures, as we make clear).

    Opening inventory is subtracted and closing inventory is added to calculate the purchases of materials – not the usage (because the cost of goods sold is opening inventory plus purchases less closing inventory).
