    Hi John,

Please can you guide on below question from Kaplan :-

The time for the first batch of 50 Units was 500 hours. The total time for the first 16 batches of 50 Units was 5731 hours.

    What is learning Rate.

Answer: I do not understand the answer in Kaplan.

    They have stated 5731 = 16 * 500 r power 4

    Many Thanks

    Jitin

You need to watch my free lectures on this, because it is simple application of the doubling rule and I go through it in detail, with examples, in my lecture!!!!

The time for the first batch is 500 hours. The average time per batch for 16 batches is 5,731/16

Using the doubling rule (because 16 is doubling 4 times):

500 x r^4 = 5731/16 (which is the same as what Kaplan have written).

I am sorry, but I cannot type out all my lectures here 🙂

    Many Thanks John.

Following your lectures, I started practising the questions.

I do not understand how come r^4. Because r is the rate of learning. And it is in B = Log r / Log 2.

    Thank You

As well the equation is y = ax^b.

I do not understand how the information in question fits in this equation.

    Thanks

The doubling rule does not require use of the formula.

16 involved doubling 4 times and so we multiply by r^4 to get the average time per unit for 16.

You need to watch my free lectures which explain it all – I cannot possibly type out all the lecture here.

    Thanks John.

I will go back and watch it again.

    Thanks again.
