Could you explain the principles and ideas of feedforward control?

I explain this in my lectures on planning and operational variances!
Feedforward control is where you see that something is changing (maybe the price of materials is going to increase) and you change your plans accordingly. Maybe, for example, you decide to buy less of the material or to buy different material.
