The costs will be mentoring fees (which depends on what the individual mentor charges) + submission fee which will probably be somewhere between GBP 250 – 275 for Period 35.
It is often better to invest in a decent mentor as if you fail you will have to pay another submission fee and a resubmission can involve extra stress (particularly if it goes to the wire of a 3rd and final attempt – not only 3 attempts are allowed). However ensure the mentor does not provide templates as this can end up with a referral to the Academic Conduct Office for malpractice or misconduct as all work must be your own (and this could mean a penalty resubmission fee of GBP 550 and notification of this to ACCA)
July 11, 2017 at 1:54 pm #395453Ok thanks trephena. But what is the range of amount that the mentor will accept from you?
Secondary how do I apply to the degree is it through ACCA or OBUJuly 11, 2017 at 2:06 pm #395454Again I stay in Nigeria, hope I can complete both my ACCA and a Degree in Applied Accounting from OBU without coming to UK?
July 12, 2017 at 11:19 am #395565No need to come to the UK. Mentors communicate via emails and have meetings using Skype
Mentoring Costs very from about USD 100 to GBP 500
Please bear in mind my comments above about avoiding using an unscrupulous mentor who will offer to make life easy for you by providing templates (they will call them ‘samples’) to work from. This could be both costly financially and professionally if you do. OBU has recently even withdrawn degrees previously awarded and the students expelled from the programme. The students now face ACCA disciplinary hearings.

Good day. I will like to know if I can still submit my RAP after I have completed all my ACCA exams. I have 1 more P paper to go in September and I want to know if I can submit my RAP after taking that exam or if I have to submit before completing my exam. Thank you.
July 28, 2017 at 6:24 pm #399191That should be fine provided (a) you never opted out of the OBU programmes as it would now be too late for you to opt in and (b) you have not exceeded the 10 year time limit which starts from passing your first exam (or receiving your first exemption), by the date of the submission period you submit in.
August 1, 2017 at 8:37 pm #399905Hi, if anyone can guide me on my RAP bursary application remarks by OBU panel it will be of great help.
I am told that my application was rejected because I did not submit required references on official company letterheads and the panel has doubts on their authenticity.
As much as I can understand, information pack clearly states that company letterhead are required for reference “where appropriate”. Does it not mean that if the company or business, I have worked in, do not use or entertain official letterheads then I am not obliged to submit the references on such. Or is it still mandatory and if there are no official letterheads then I am not eligible to even submit a bursary application (because I do have line managers just not a company with such formal organizational structure)?
Due to this I have also been regarded ineligible for bursary application at any time in future (which means I cannot apply for any bursary in the future). Should I ask them about this decision as I have not breached any academic, ethical, moral and professional code while submitting these references. If they had doubts could they not have contacted them? The whole case is basically based on whether “where appropriate” makes it mandatory to submit references on company letterheads or not.
I know that the decision is based on panel’s discretion and it is final, it is just that I want to understand the meaning of the terms used in information pack properly so I won’t make the same mistakes while undertaking RAP. I also realize that if it is mandatory to submit references on company letterheads then it is panel’s discretion to deem on ineligible for future applications as well?
Any help understanding this is welcome.
Thank you.
August 2, 2017 at 1:26 am #399924I presume it says “if appropriate” because say for example if you were getting a personal reference from an individual who was not in a company they would have no letterhead to use. However itt is assumed that otherwise a company or institution would have a professional letterhead. So I don’t understand why you couldn’t get the references on proper letterheads in the first place as this would have strengthened your application.
My understanding is that the bursaries are intended for cases of extreme hardship (otherwise everyone would apply) so each case has to be assessed. Without documentary proof i.e. letterheads so that companies could be checked and facts verified, the application would look odd.
By the way it seems that in some parts of the world RAPs based on fictitious companies accompanied by ‘authorisation letters ‘ on dubious letterheads have been submitted and OBU policy is to reject these and formally discipline the students; so the policy in your case seems to be an extension of this and probably the reason they have said they will not accept a future application.
August 3, 2017 at 12:05 pm #400000I see. Well the reason why I was unable to submit official letterheads was that i worked in local businesses/companies and none of them entertained official letterheads in giving such referenes. However thanks for the detailed analysis. I will take this matter up with ACCA PER committee so there won’t be any problems when i submit my experience.
September 4, 2017 at 10:18 pm #405534On 20th September 2017, if i passed my RAP then OBU will send a copy with my results and one transcript via post.
The degree BSc (Hons) in Applied accounting they will send it as well together?
Thank you!
September 5, 2017 at 12:57 pm #405625All students who have fully paid for their submission will received their electronic results sheet when they log into their account after the release of the results unless their result has been deferred (essentially this means that it has been decided that an Academic Conduct Officer will review the work).
A transcript is not sent out until about 10 to 14 days after this for all successful students and degree certificates (as is normal in most UK universities) will not be sent out until several months after that.
(It can take several months for the results for deferred work to be released as this will often only be after a formal investigation. Unless the student is exonerated they may not necessarily receive any feedback. For example if there is reason to suspect that the work is not the result of the student’s own efforts the work is given a zero grade which means every section is failed).
September 20, 2017 at 7:41 am #408012Hi all, I have passed the RAP project, but now I have some queries:
1. What are the documents that OBU will send to me upon the completion of this BSc degree ?
2. When will OBU send these documents ?
3. How will OBU send these documents ? via email (softcopy) or via postal (hardcopy) ?Any answers will be appreciated..
Thank You…September 20, 2017 at 10:36 am #408056Please see my 5 September post on BSc Degree – General Queries where I have already answered most of this. As Transcripts and Certificates need to be original the hard copies are posted

I have completed my fundamental Papers in March and now I would like to start considering preparing my RAP for May 2018 session. How can a topic be chosen? Should that be chosen with a mentor? Is there a list available of topics?
thank you for your help
Kind regards

October 12, 2017 at 11:32 pm #410709Please see our homepage http://www.opentuition.com/obu where there are articles and advice on the subjects you raise including a list of topics. Also you should familiarise yourself with the Information Pack with the latest rules and submission information as the topic titles have changed slightly recently.
October 14, 2017 at 6:19 pm #411009Hi,
I am planning to write the Rap and submit it in May 2018.
Could you please confirm whether the mentor needs to be chosen from listed mentor and if so where can I find this list? Thanks
GabriellaOctober 16, 2017 at 10:45 am #411795The way it works is that you can only submit if your mentor is listed. You need to register as a mentee on the OBU mentoring website and you will find a list of current mentors. When uploading your work only the mentors listed appear in the drop-down box you have to select
Please choose very carefully….It is as well to check a month or two before submission that your mentor is still listed (OBU is cracking down on mentors who are breaching university regulations and supplying templates – which mentors say are merely ‘samples’ and aiding students far beyond what is prescribed in the Information pack – as this is considered to be a form of cheating and banning such mentors).
October 16, 2017 at 4:01 pm #411931Hi Trephena,
Thank you for your reply.
It is clear to me that the mentor needs to be one listed on the mentor list.
What it is not fully understood is what happens if the mentor chosen will be removed from the list after I have chosen him/her and I have to submit my RAP?Additionally, do you have any recommendation in order to chose the most suitable mentor?
Sorry for many questions, but I am starting now to prepare my RAP and I am very confused.
Thanks for your support
Gabriella
October 17, 2017 at 11:41 am #412123Hi Gabriella
Should you be unfortunate enough to be affected by a delisted mentor you are normally permitted to forward your files direct to the ACCA BSc Office ( after contacting them beforehand). However worry about it nearer the time.
There are a number of good mentors in the UK and the Far East. For Pakistan you could try the Virtual Mentoring Network. We are normally unable to vouch for the reputation of individual mentors apart from those at the Learning Luminarium whose pass rates we have checked out and we believe the testimonials posted by students on ‘Advancing the quality’ and our results forums in relation to them to be genuine. (My marker friend also recommends Bhanavi Shanmugabalan from Singapore too).
Generally you get what you pay for (as I know myself as I mentor MBA students). If you want quality it comes at a price and just as you would pay for any professional services – if you pay peanuts you can expect to get a monkey!
October 21, 2017 at 6:32 pm #412797Hi All,
Until now, I have received the Result Letter, Transcript, and Award Confirmation Letter from OBU.
Are there still any other documents ?
Thank You.
October 23, 2017 at 9:48 am #412917The degree certificate. This is sent out months later.
