I think the first step is reading the Pack
December 22, 2016 at 6:52 pm #364265I started my RAP a week ago and will submit it by May ’17. I want to ask if need to be registered somewhere before giving my RAP?
I am opted in for the RAP with OBU and i have found a mentor, pass last august the ethics module and now doing the RAP. Do i need to registered again or said to someone from the university that i am doing and submit it on May?
Please help… thank you.
December 22, 2016 at 7:34 pm #364268or pay something?
December 23, 2016 at 4:49 pm #364344No, you do not register however ensure you familiarise yourself with the 2016/2017 information pack. You will need to login to the student submission portal to upload your work when Period 34 submissions start on 1st May 2017 and be able to pay your submission fee in GBP (the amount is set out in the Information Pack). Those are the only formalities.
December 23, 2016 at 4:54 pm #364345@muhammd – your query belongs on the degree grading topic forum.
Third Class Honours is still a pass and you will be able to put BSc after your name. Admittedly it is the lowest honours classification but each session there are students who do not pass the RAP either at their 3rd attempt or within the 10 year registration period who do not get the degree at all.
January 25, 2017 at 7:43 am #369409The other major cost potentially is if you have to use a ‘commercial’ mentor that is, someone who will supervise your work. This can cost several hundred dollars. You should read up about the role the mentor should play and find a mentor who is not just OBU listed but has a reputation for acting with integrity (OBU listed just means that they have passed the OBU online mentoring course).
The importance of high ethical standards in the mentor cannot be over stressed. Some mentors have been found to have virtually done the work for the students and provided a project that has previously been submitted and passed for the student to rework. OBU’s Academic Conduct Office is now using a number of techniques (not just Turnitin scores) to weed out projects that are not all the students own work. A warning bell is if a mentor offers to provide ‘samples’ of the project or any mentor who guarantees that you will pass -NO mentor can guarantee this.
Note: Every session about 10% of student work is referred to the ACO and at least half of these apparently will be given a penalty of Misconduct or Serious Misconduct. Serious Misconduct can result in expulsion from the programme and Misconduct will result in a penalty fee of GBP 550 for their resubmission. The ACO can also rescind the degree which means that the student is stripped of the degree and even if they had received the certificate an employer who contacts the University would be informed that the certificate is no longer valid.
In Pakistan you could try the Virtual Mentoring Network as I believe the mentors there operate ethically as do our recommended mentors The Learning Luminarium based in Singapore. However my advice is to read about the role the mentor should play in the OBU Information Pack and be wary of mentors who diverge from this in the way they operate.
March 16, 2017 at 7:49 am #378422Hi,
I am resubmitting my RAP in May 2017. In this attempt, I am doing the same Topic 8, but with different companies. Also, in my previous attempt, for business models I had selected PESTEL and Porters 5 forces. However, this time, I am doing SWOT and PEST.
My fail marksheet from last attempt gives me a Pass in SLS and Presentation.
I understand from reading the Info pack that I need not resubmit the SLS, but was not clear on the presentation part, if it has to be resubmitted or not.
Request your guidance for this query.
Thanks.
March 16, 2017 at 8:43 am #378436If you have cleared the whole of the SLS (self-reflection statement and slides) by passing last time then you are not required to resubmit these as only the company has changed.
Sometimes however in the past students have had issues with loading their submission without the slides. I trust this bug in the program has now been sorted. However I have suggested previously that if any problem is encountered on this front then either load the old slides with an additional appendix called ‘Note to marker’ explaining the situation or quite simply put your note on a PowerPoint slide and load that (as the system would be expecting a PowerPoint format it would then just accept it as the Presentation).
Good luck with your resubmission !
March 16, 2017 at 8:59 am #378437Thanks Trephena.
yes, I have cleared the whole SLS. Apart from the company, I am changing the business models as well, from PESTEL+Porters –> SWOT+PEST.
Trust this change also does not require resubmitting the Presentation???
March 16, 2017 at 12:36 pm #378451Of course not! As explained once the whole SLS is cleared that is it.
It is superfluous whether the content of your report has changed in this respect (as you have only changed companies) – I am sure markers would have no time (and better things to do) than ‘spot the differences’ in the Presentations as it was passed by one of them previously!
March 17, 2017 at 2:39 pm #378553Many Thanks Trephena for clarifying
April 8, 2017 at 6:08 am #380591Hi,
I plan to submit my RAP for Topic 8 in the November period
The companies I have chosen are Pfizer and Merck with year ends of Dec.I have some queries.
1, If Im submitting my RAP for the november 2017 period does it mean i have to use the years december 14,15 and 16?also kindly confirm that we are not expected to use quartely of half yearly results?
2,If im including financial information for upto 2016 this means that my analysis should only extend to events only till 2016 right?as anything from 2017 would not be relevant to these years?
3.Do I use the financial information of the the parent company or group?
Awaiting your kind response.
Best Regards,
FurqanApril 9, 2017 at 1:03 am #3806651. Please read the 90 day rule applicable to T8 and T 15 set out in the Information Pack
2. It depends on the context. Usually there is no objection about using more recent info
3. Depends whether the comparator is the parent/ group or subsidiary. You must compare like with like
April 9, 2017 at 9:34 am #380686Hi,
I sat all my F level exams, waiting for my result with the last one. I am eligible to RAP, however I have to complete the Professional Ethic Module. Can anybody advise if this include the passing P1 paper as well? If not, please advise how to complete the Ethic module.
Thanks
Gabbi
April 9, 2017 at 3:09 pm #380708No it does not include passing p1 but you have to have passed your F papers two months before submission deadline which means youre not eligible for may.

June 27, 2017 at 8:04 pm #394216@eddyy -OBU do an MBA programme most of which is distance learning. Perhaps that might be worth exploring especially as the MBA is more prestigious. I don’t think it comes cheap but overall might open up more opportunities for you.
