Please see our homepage http://www.opentuition.com/obu where there is a lot of useful information including FAQs and read the OBU RAP information Pack available on ACCA global.
If you have a specific question then PLEASE select the appropriate topic (go back over the last 2 or 3 topic pages if necessary) rather than start a new topic as fresh questions once posted automatically put an existing topic on the first page
June 13, 2016 at 9:25 am #322697Hi There,
I have Selected Topic 7, I have a lot of ideas about what to write. Where can I get a mentor that is confident in the area and how can I get started.
I am eager to get going ASAP.Thank you
June 25, 2016 at 3:16 am #324021Pls someone help!
Is it good to write my project using “I” instead of the “researcher”.
June 25, 2016 at 3:18 am #324022e.g I undertake to write on the topic following my studies of…
June 27, 2016 at 10:51 am #324215Yes this is fine in Parts 1 & 2. In Part 3 however the analysis commentary is usually written in the 3rd person and what is grammatically called the “passive voice” is normally used e.g. ‘it was found that…..’ (rather than I found). Where you refer to yourself or your own research this traditionally in academic work becomes ‘the researcher’ or ‘the author’. Don’t worry though as you are not doing a PhD it is not something you would be penalised on 🙂

July 4, 2016 at 5:37 pm #324691hi there, i just appeared my F4 CBE exam…but i completed my other F papers before that but was opted for my OBU BSc degree before i passed those exam.
My question is ,since i appeared the F4(CBE) do i need to appear for IELTS exam to meet the english requirement, although I have a C grade in my Olevel UK exam, which is also an approved english requirement for OBU submission as stated in their requirements.also i heard ACCA automatically sends the name of those students to Oxford Brookes, who becomes eligible for OBU RAP, is there any way i can get a confirmation or double check this ,whether they sent my name or not…
could u please help me out with these matter…it will be highly appreciated…thanksJuly 23, 2016 at 9:03 am #328468Hi all, I am wanting to opt into the Oxford Brooke’s degree programme and wondering if it is possible to do it away from campus, i.e doing the project and English test from another country and submitting it???
July 24, 2016 at 7:13 am #328574I suggest you download the Information Pack from accaglobal. The whole OBU RAP is a distance qualification – none of it is campus based!
August 10, 2016 at 1:17 pm #332518Dear,
I would like to know that how many credentials points will I get for my Bsc Hons from Oxford Brookes University (UK).I have got an upper second class honors degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
I am applying for Canadian Immigration through express entry and for that I need to assess my degrees and A-Levels result as well as to what equivalent will I get in Canada of my degrees.
I want to know before sending documents that whether I will get credentials equal to 2 or 3 years of Bachelors in Canada points so that I can claim my immigration points of express entry and get eligible to apply. (I have 13 exams cleared of ACCA as well with OBU Bsc Degree with upper second class honors) because otherwise If I will just send the documents and then after so many weeks I will get to know that it not being recognized to Canadian education equivalent than that will waste so much of time and money as well.
The only thing I want to know is that this OBU Bsc Hons In Applied Accounting is equal to Two year program at a university, college, trade, or technical school or other institute in Canada.
I need your help in this regard. Hoping to get a positive response from your end to the earliest possible.
With Best Regards,
MohammadAugust 12, 2016 at 10:38 am #332661I doubt anyone on here can answer this for definite as recognition of overseas qualifications is always the prerogative of the body who you are registering with. However it would be viewed as any other degree from Oxford Brookes University. As the ACCA papers contribute towards the BSc degree in Applied Accounting (you can’t get it without them) then this brings it up to the 3 years of a ‘normal’ first degree in the UK.
PLEASE DO NIT ENGAGE IN MULTI-POSTING THE VERY SAME QUESTION ON LOTS OF TOPIC FORUMS – OTHERWISE IT IS LIKE SPAM AND WILL BE DELETED.
One question in one place will suffice!
August 12, 2016 at 10:38 am #332671First – please do NOT post the same query more than once – there is no need to do so and it will be trealed ike spam and deleted (just creates unnecessary extra work for me)
The OBU BSc in Applied Accounting should be recognised as equal to any other degree from OBU. As it comprises the ACCA papers as well as the RAP (you cannot get it without passes in the appropriate exams) it is on a par with a ‘normal’ UK degree that lasts 3 years (it probably takes that much time to pass the 6 papers and the RAP)
It will be entirely up to the Canadian system how much recognition they give to any degree – this is not something the awarding body in the UK can dictate.
August 20, 2016 at 9:15 pm #334279Hello people,
I have cleared F1,F2,F3 & F7 pepers. I am going to take F6 & F9 in Dec. I am already opt for obu. My question is what should I further do towards obu program? I want to know if I should give ielts exams, whether I should go for manual F4 or CBE. I need to know about technicalities that I should take care?September 11, 2016 at 9:54 am #339771Hi,
I wanted to know one thing if anyone can answer would be really grateful.
If i give F9 as CBE will it be included in my grade for the OBU Bsc?Normally for the F1-F3 CBE we only get the comment passed.
Regards,
FurqanSeptember 11, 2016 at 11:04 am #339783Sorry not sure I understand your question fully (so doubt anyone else will). If you are talking about claiming exemption then I suggest that you contact the ACCA OBU office (email address in the Information Pack). This is because normally the way university rules work is that if you are given accreditation for prior learning you cannot claim it twice for the same qualifying learning. For the BSc degree OBU accepts passes at F4- F9 as prior learning and credits them towards the degree (the reason you have to opt in before registering with OBU -now done automatically).
However if you have already claimed exemption from F9 with ACCA you may not necessarily be able to claim it again towards the degree so need to check this before you proceed. If you contact them now before the P32 results come out you are likely to get a prompt reply.
PLEASE NOTE: your question should have been posted to the correct forum – “BSc Degree – General Queries” (and not opening a new topic when we already have one – as requested in “Please help keep our forums tidy!!!!”) so I will post your query there when you have your answer kindly post the OBU office reply there too so that others may benefit.
September 14, 2016 at 3:25 pm #340515Hey peeps,
Please with regards to candidates in Nigeria, can anyone tell me authoritativly that we can get the NYSC exemption certificate after obtaining the B.sc in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University?September 19, 2016 at 9:19 am #340886Hi,
I am going to write my thesis on Topic 8,I have no previous experience with thesis I am starting from scratch,I can afford to give a lot of time to this but it might not be all quality time.So my questions are1. How many hours on Avg do you think I need to give to submit within period 33 deadline and do i have sufficient time get a pass grade for Period 33?.
2. Can i get someone to mentor me from work?what are the requirements for a mentor to fulfill the OBU criteria. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
FurqanSeptember 19, 2016 at 1:27 pm #340924My question is that OBU Bsc degree class/grade is awarded on the basis of aggregate marks of F5-F9 and the grade on our thesis,so if I give f9 by the new CBE format will its marks be included in the aggregate?Because F4 was exempted from the grading process after it became a CBE based paper?
September 19, 2016 at 3:18 pm #340932You need to start your RAP asap to allow time to review your work adequately. The submission fee is GBP 225 so you don’t want to waste this on sub-standard work especially as I believe the fee for P34 will be even more.
In order to stand the best chance of passing read through our forum posts as they contain lots of sound advice (I don’t have the time to repeat it when it is already available). Also see our homepage http://www.opentuition.com/obu as we have articles on Evaluation & Analysis and Referencing – the 2 most common areas failed. You must also read the latest 2016/2017 information Pack and ensure you understand ALL the requirements.
Your mentor must be listed. A work colleague can only act as your mentor if they hold the recognised OBU mentoring certificate. (The IT system will not allow you to submit your work unless your mentor is on the OBU mentor list). To find out more about mentors see the Information Pack and register as a mentee on the OBU website.
Please note (1) I have, already answered your 2nd query -so please read the answer above. (2) it is a Research and analysis report NOT a thesis (a thesis is an advanced piece of academic work submitted for post-graduate degrees)
September 21, 2016 at 6:20 am #341110Sorry for posting the 2nd query again you said you couldnt understand it properly so I tried to explain it better.
I am facing an issue when trying to register for the mentee program on OBU site, one of the point on its requirement checklist says that I need to complete f7,f8 and f9.
I have given F7 and F8 in June and i am going to sit F9 CBE in October.
Does it mean I cant register until I clear my F9 CBE?
If I start working on the research mid October than it wont be possible for me to do a good job on it? I dont want to wait till the next period if possible.
Thanks for all your support trephena.
FurqanSeptember 22, 2016 at 10:36 am #341364Sorry I don’t know exactly how the registration of the mentoring website works in detail. You have to have completed certain exams now before you can submit your work and have passed all the ethics modules (ACCA and OBU). This is in your interest as you need some proven skills to reach the necessary standard to do the work and stand a decent chance of passing especially as the submission fee for P33 is GBP 225 (and will be GBP 250 for P34)
However the latest information pack is available on accaglobal so you could get a few ideas about how to proceed from that and also use our search facility to find the topic on RAP project objectives / aims and research questions as these are among the first things you’ll need to establish
October 10, 2016 at 6:36 pm #342910Can anyone tell me the recognition of BSc Hons degree in overseas universities like in the UK or Canada?
Do top reputed universities accept OBU BSc degree ?
Can I get admission in MBA using the BSc degree?
Please helpOctober 10, 2016 at 7:08 pm #342912Yes it is fully recognized degree of UK, thus, in UK you can even opt for scholarship if you meet other criteria, but for MBA you need managerial experience keep that in mind.
As it’s fully accredited degree, almost every uni around the world accepts it, but few universities might not accept this degree such as universities in Pakistan if you don’t meet the recognition criteria of HEC, of passing A levels before completing the degree.
Other countries have their own criteria, as many countries want four year bachelors, so as UK bachelors are of 3 years you might have to fulfill 4 year criteria by doing jobs, it is true for USA and Canada.
Overall, it’s accredited degree from UK’s accredited university, but each countries have their own rule and for definite answer you must e-mail them. But in UK you must have no problem if you meet other needs of uni too.
Regards
October 10, 2016 at 9:40 pm #342930Thank you so much for the reply, Ehsan.
I am relieved nowOctober 17, 2016 at 11:43 pm #344478Yes, you can as it complies with passing F series exam by more than 2 months prior to RAP submission.
