I have created this Forum specifically to deal with general queries related to the degree e.g. eligibility, proficiency in English, grades, overseas recognition etc. as I am trying to ‘tidy-up’ our forums (that currently run to over 26 pages!)
The idea is that things should be easier to find – so please start your post with a heading relating to the appropriate sub-topic e.g ‘DEGREE GRADE ‘ before launching into your question (and try not to open a new Forum topic unless absolutely necessary). So please help me to help you 🙂

i have passed f4 exam in last session now i want to know that i am eligible for oxford brookes BSC Degree now ?? cause i recieve my reult letter and in that i found i am still not meet the requirement of English i don;t know what is this cause ACCA want f4 must b pass before F7 F8 F9 .and i passed f4 .. i need your help what i do now to get eligble ..

have you looked in your Myacca, you might have to opt in, this is what used to happen before it was automatically added.
I’m presuming you have not passed F7 F8 or F9?

please can any tell me whether i am still able to apply for BSC hons or not as i have cleared my F1,F2, F3, F5, and F6.

I am exempted F1, F2, F3, and F9
In June 2012, I have sat for F4 and F5.
For me to register to do this degree alongside and submit my RAP, I understand that:
1. I will need to waive my exemption for F9. Is this correct?
2. I will need to register with Oxford Brooke’s before I sat for F7, F8 and F9, is this correct?
3. Once can submit the RAP within 10 years of start date with ACCA, can I next do sat for F6, professional ethics, P1, P2, P3, P4 and P5 respectively, before I decide to waive my exemption for F9 and then Sat for F7, F8 and F9 and then at the very end submit my RAP?
4. The average marks ( F4+F5+F6+F7+F8+F9 / 6 ) is computed, is this correct? What about If i fail F5 for example, and I get for example 35 marks…will they take this mark into the average or they will take my second best mark for F5 when I next pass it ( e.g greater or equal to the 50 marks pass marks)
5. Say for example in F6 first attempt i get 52 marks, I am not happy with the marks although I have passed it..if for example I resit F6 again in view to score a better mark, and then i got 68 on 2nd attempt, which mark will they take in account when doing the average..52 marks or 68 marks?
Please clarify the above 5 queries for me..it would be really helpful to clear off my doubts.

in response to your question, i’ll advice you contact acca via email detailing your enquiries. email to:students@accaglobal.com.the following might help in the meantime;
*OBU (Oxford Brookes University) average is based largely on paper F7, 8 & 9. so if you’ve been exepted from f9, you’ll be required to forfeit such.
* once you pass a paper in acca, you can’t go back to resit such. you have an automatic credit for such.
*your OBU grade is the average ( total scores obtained divided by number of required (passed) number of subjects).
* in your case, if i’m right f4, 5,6,7,8 & 9 divided by 6.
please note that you will be required to complete the PEM ( Professional Ethic Module) before you can submit your RAP- usually 2 months (not sure though) before the submission.

if i understand your question correctly, you want to submitt your RAP after completing your ACCA(PEM) study, it’s possible but it must be within the 10years limit. It’s important you stay opt in throughout the period.best wishes!

Please can someone explain to me how to proceed to the oxford brookes. i’ve read all the instructions on acca websites, but there are certain issues that remain uncertain. I need to find a project mentor, and how will I inform Acca, is it by mail? Concerning the SLS, i’ve read that i need to give an explanation to my mentor and then afer that i send it along with my research project. Thus how will they assess the SLS?
As long as you are ‘opted in’ and meet the criteria (Registration date, papers sat, english language qualification etc) you do not need to inform the ACCA.
You can apply direct to Oxford Brookes to be eligible to submit for the degree. All the major tuition providers have mentoring services or you can find a private one through Oxford Brookes as they hold a register of official mentors.
There is guidance available on line and in text books regarding the content of the SLS, one of the mentors jobs is to review this prior to submission to check that you have addressed all the questions set.

OVERSEAS RECOGNITION OF THE OBU BSc DEGREE
I’m planning on having another degree, the BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, which ACCA students can opt in for if they want to, making it easier to get an academic qualification than going to a university and spending 3-4 years on it separately.
I’m doing this because I plan to move to the US in a few years, and ACCA isn’t recognized there (it may one day thanks to IFRS, but then there’ll be too many accountants there).
A little info about getting the CPA credential; you need to have a minimum of 150 US Credits to sit for the exam and license. That means I need to have a US Bachelors degree or equivalent, which I won’t have because my first degree is a Bcom from India (nothing prestigious, so it’s worth 90 US credits only).I have alot of time on my hands, I can work hard if I really have to get all this done, the way I see it, spend a few good years of hard work, and then the following years ahead will take me to higher ground.
I’d like to know exactly whats up when I opt in for this BSc. degree, what I’m really up for, the difficulty, about mentors etc. from people who will be doing it or have done it before.

Andy 🙂I am currentlt in USA now and interested in becoming CPA in this country. I will submit my OBU degree to satisfy one of the educational requirement foe becoming a CPA. The thing is i am not sure if the OBU degree will be recognised here in California. Anyone with the same situation or able to answer my question? Thank you.
CPA will require a course by course analysis of your educational degree. As OBU do not provide GPA or Credit Hour details, it might be difficult for you to get in. From 2012 most of the states are not considering chartered accoutancty to be part of educational requriement.
The best thing you can do is apply for a pre-evaluation for $50. This report will provide you the details if you have sufficient credit hours for entry or not.

@Smoke.. it is not 260 ,it is 360 credit hour.and it is indicated on your transcript how you get 360.40 credit hour for f4-f9 each,30 credit hour for f1-f3 and i think 30 credit hour for your Project.

as far as i know i spoke to some universities in the US accredited under AACSB. they told that under some bologna accord (damn care) many of the US universities and colleges are now accepting 3 year bachelors (UK) as being equivalent to a 4 years US bachelors.
being that said you can get admission in a masters program i.e MBA, MSAC etc.
the only issue is that US universities enjoy great autonomy and are not just bound to accept foreign credential evaluators i.e. even if they require a foreign credential evaluator, they hold the right to reject your degree regardless of it being approved by them.
another issue is correspondence education. i think that is that OBU BSc actually is. but it depends upon the university you are applying. they may accept it. the only way to know is when u actually apply.
all this being told is for the reason that one cant enter CPA on OBU BSc but can in a masters program, and then can apply for CPA based on the 150 credit hours needed by US.coming to OBU BSc degree credit hours. F1-F3 are 35 credits each and the rest are all 40 credits each. RAP is 15 credits making a total of 360 credits. but this system only works in UK and not elsewhere as they hold different rating systems.

@shtuamouth……..First of all mate you are wrong about the credit hour given against each ACCA paper.i early mentioned it in my post about that.The reason i mentioned them is because i have it myself. Second that BSc degree is not any correspondence education.

”I’m afraid that we cannot provide GPA and credit hours.”
”We don’t provide credit hour breakdowns.”My Mentor has told me that the RAP itself it 30 Credit Hours of a 360 Credit BSc.
