Why is he taking $40m and not $42m?
I think it should be $42m coz the FV at reporting date was $42m and not $40m.

Dr Goodwill Cr Liability 40
SFP date
Dr P&L Cr Liability 2
Goodwill calculated at acquisition date based on expected profits as forseen at that date
